Vehicle Fire

Station 22 was dispatched to the City Ave west bound off ramp of I76 for a vehicle fire at 17:00 hours. With Squad 22 out of service for maintenance, Rescue 22 made the response with a crew of 4. As we arrived on location, we were met by Engine 35 of the Philadelphia Fire Department, and 1 vehicle off to the side with an engine compartment fire. Engine 35's crew had just begun to extinguish the fire. Firefighters from Rescue 22 assisted the PFD crew with a hood pop using our new rescue tools and helped spread salt and sand on the ground to keep the water from freezing to the roadway. After the fire was extinguished and road hazards secured, we gave members of the PFD a quick tour of our new rescue truck who were very impressed. Crews worked well together, handed the scene over to PSP and returned to quarters for warmth.
