22 and 28 units were alerted to a building fire at the Bala shopping center this evening. The commercial building fire dispatch brought units from station 26 and 21 to assist. Upon arrival, firefighters from ladder 22 and engine 28 were met with a smoke condition in 4 different store fronts and the common basement areas between them all. After a period of time, with the smoke still evident and an extended search for the source, the full building fire assignment was requested bringing in units from the rest of the LM fire companies, the fire marshal's office and Narberth ambulance. As the upgraded response units were arriving, the source of the smoke was located and quickly brought under control. After some time ventilating smoke from the affected store fronts, all units went available.
